You can use 'so' with an adjective or an adverb. e.g. The disco was so hot! She danced so beautifully
You can use 'such' with an uncountable noun [U] (and adjective) or with a plural countable noun [C] (and adjective) You can use 'such a' or 'such an' with a singular countable noun [C] (and adjective) e.g. Such ideas are hard to understand. It was such a long journey that it took a day to get over it.
